Wyndham Vale train station now open

Wyndham Vale train station voted number 1!

Recent ‘On Track’ survey results have rated Melbourne’s best and worst train stations

Thousands of Melbourne commuters joined forces to rate the state’s train stations and we’re pleased that our Wyndham Vale station was voted the best in Victoria, while some of our biggest did not fare nearly as well.

Almost 18,000 Victorians rated their stations and services in the RACV and Leader News On Track survey. Respondents were asked to rate their local station out of 10, taking into account factors such as safety, parking, ticketing, shelter, staffing, cleanliness, seating, lighting and toilets.

Wyndham Vale station was rated best in Victoria with a 8.95 rating, while Ashburton (8.38), Mitcham (8.12) and Westall (8.11) were in the state’s 10 best list, otherwise dominated by regional stations.

The average train station rating across the state was 6.95 out of a possible 10. Of the more than 200 stations rated, Southern Cross was the 45th best; Richmond was 99; Flinders St 161 and South Yarra 181.

Aircraft, Hallam and Lalor topped the worst list, with the nearby Hoppers Crossing station rated as the fourth worst in the state.

The Wyndham Vale train station was part of the Regional Rail Link project – a multi-billion dollar project that separated metropolitan and regional services through Melbourne’s west. The project built dedicated tracks for the Geelong, Bendigo and Ballarat trains through the metropolitan system and added two new train stations to the area, at Wyndham Vale and Tarneit.

The Regional Rail Link project was the winner of the Australian Construction Achievement Award 2015 and Infrastructure Project of the Year 2014, as well as receiving the Premier’s Sustainability Award in 2014, and an IABC Gold Quill award for Community Relations in 2015.

We’re pleased to have such an important part of Wyndham Vale infrastructure on our doorstep.
